Job Opening: Director, Oriental Institute Research Center in Taiwan (OIRCT)
The Oriental Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Director of its branch office in Taiwan with a tentative start date of June 1, 2022. This position is based in Taipei, Taiwan and consists of 75% research and 25% administrative duties. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Chinese, Taiwan, Japanese, or Asian Studies, or any relevant field where East Asia is the focal point of research. They will be expected to publish academic articles in English, present their research at international conferences, coordinate and support visits to the center by international scholars, and organize outreach activities on behalf of the center. Outreach activities will include arranging lectures (1-2 per year), small workshops (1 per year), and an international conference in collaboration with Taiwanese partners (every other year). We are particularly interested in candidates who have a professional relationship with Taiwanese academia. Proficiency in English and Chinese is required. This is a 2-year position with the possibility of renewal.

The Oriental Institute Research Center in Taiwan (OIRCT) was established on December 3, 2015, after being granted affiliation by the Institute of History and Philology of Academia Sinica. It is funded by the Oriental Institute and its mission is to facilitate and strengthen academic cooperation between the Oriental Institute and other Czech research organizations with Taiwanese and broader East Asian academia.
