HR specialist in research

About the role

We are seeking a rising star in human resources within a research environment. In this role, you will support an experienced HR manager in developing our employer branding and guiding managers throughout the recruitment process. You will also contribute to the development of HR policies and support their implementation. In addition, you will consult with managers on HR-related topics and help scientists develop their leadership skills and the potential of their teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to building our employer brand from the ground up by gathering insights from our scientists, analysing the labour market, and identifying best practices at other research institutes.
• Lead recruitment and selection processes.
• Select and coordinate training and development.
• Provide guidance and support to managers in their leadership and people management roles.
• Participate or lead strategic HR projects.
• Co-create and maintain HR content on the intranet.
• Participate in the development and improvement of HR processes and policies.
• Provide general HR support and guidance to employees and teams.

Desired skills and experience

• Experience with research: Demonstrated experience in conducting own research project, ideally in the field of life-sciences, completed PhD is a plus.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to support employees at all levels.
• Diligence and thoroughness: High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple topics, projects and deadlines with the needed care.
• Independence and team work: Ability to work with minimal supervision and to build positive, productive relationships across teams.
• Creative problem solving: Ability to think critically and propose innovative, out-of-the-box solutions.
• Language proficiency: English and Czech at least at B2 level in speaking and C1 level in reading and writing.

About the Institute

The Institute of Biotechnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences (IBT, ibt.cas.cz) is a top-class multi-disciplinary public research institution in the Czech Republic whose mission is to research biomolecular mechanisms, the understanding of which contributes to the development of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and the emergence of innovative biotechnologies. IBT is located in the BIOCEV center (biocev.eu) operated by the Czech Academy of Sciences and Charles University. IBT has ~230 employees, ~150 of which work in research.

IBT/BIOCEV is in Vestec, Prague-west, ~30 minutes from the city centre by public transport.
