EP Resilient Cultural Heritage
Resilient Cultural Heritage (RCH) was established as a European co-funded partnership under the second pillar of the Horizon Europe programme and its second cluster. This partnership focuses on key research gaps and priorities defined in the JPI 2022 White Paper on Climate Heritage and the document JPI Cultural Heritage and Climate Change: New Challenges and Research Perspectives. Climate change is a global challenge that has significant impacts on cultural heritage; at the same time, however, cultural heritage has the potential to help formulate responses and mitigate the impacts of climate change on society. The RCH Partnership aims to strengthen research in the field of cultural heritage through the development and promotion of innovative solutions, assessment systems, adaptation and mitigation strategies, and risk management models. Emphasis is also placed on the systematic dissemination of results and capacity-building to ensure the effective transmission of cultural heritage to future generations. The partnership’s main ambition is to help make Europe more resilient and climate-neutral.
The RCH partnership is coordinated by the French foundation Fondation des sciences du patrimoine (FSP), which is responsible for overall strategic and organisational coordination. The partnership comprises more than 80 partners from both EU and non-EU countries.
The Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS) has become one of the partners of the RCH, through which it plans to support its institutes in six calls for proposals over the duration of the partnership from 2026 to 2033, and expects to provide funding of 400,000 euros per call for projects involving Czech teams from CAS institutes. Co-funding from the European Commission is planned at a rate of 20–22 per cent. The conditions for submitting project proposals are governed both by the transnational rules of the RCH and by the national rules of the individual partners.
