The aim of the Academy of the Future is to create conditions for the career development of employees of the Czech Academy of Sciences (CAS), with an emphasis on their integration into the international scientific community, and to provide them with working conditions that enable the optimal use of their human and intellectual potential while allowing them to combine research activities with personal life. The development of CAS employees will contribute to strengthening their workplaces on the path toward scientific excellence and to increasing their attractiveness as employers.

The Academy of the Future is divided into seven types of internal support, which will be gradually implemented within the existing excellence support schemes:

  • Fellowships for researchers at the beginning of an independent scientific career,
  • Fellowships for researchers,
  • Improvement of conditions for obtaining and managing major projects,
  • Return of researchers to the workplace after a career break,
  • Acquisition of talented researchers from abroad, including the return of talented scientists to the Czech Republic (Acquisition Program),
  • Activities of excellent research groups (Research Groups Program) – support will start in the future,
  • The pathway from idea to innovation or commercial use of results – support will start in the future.

Proposals for inclusion in the Acquisition Program are submitted exclusively through the directors of CAS institutes where the researcher will work if the support is awarded.

Decisions on inclusion in fellowship support schemes and returns from career breaks are made by individual CAS institutes up to the amount of their allocated financial resources, taking into account their specific needs.
