Southeast Asia-Europe JF Scheme
Southeast Asia-Europe Joint Funding Scheme for Research and Innovation (SEA-Europe JFS) is a joint initiative of European countries (Czechia, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey) and Southeast Asian states (Brunei, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, and others). The CAS has been participating in the activity since 2019. Within the framework of the program, calls for international projects on research topics are regularly announced, taking into account the principle of interdisciplinarity. A project proposal is submitted by a consortium consisting of at least three research teams, which must be from Europe and Southeast Asia. Each partner submits project proposals to its funding agency and the PI simultaneously to the SEA-Europe JFS portal. Project financing is provided by individual partner organizations, which cover the costs associated with the implementation of projects by teams from their country. The conditions for submitting project proposals are governed both by the transnational rules of SEA Europe JFS and by the national rules of the individual partners.

Based on the agreement of the participating organizations, the upcoming project call for the 2027–2029 period is focused on two thematic areas:
- New materials and green transition
- Climate resilient, smart agriculture using AI and IoT
A condition for submitting a joint project proposal is the formation of a consortium of at least three research teams from countries and organizations participating in the activity SEA-Europe JFS. The deadline for submitting project proposals is March 31, 2026.
The conditions of financial support are governed by the national rules of the partner organizations. Each partner organization exclusively covers the costs of the national part of the supported projects. In the case of the Czech Republic, eligible applicants for financial support are research workplaces of the CAS. The maximum total amount that the CAS will provide to support a successful team is EUR 80,000 for the entire project implementation period (i.e., 36 months). A total of EUR 240,000 is allocated for the call.

Implementation of projects on the SEA-Europe JFS side can start as early as December 2026, while financial drawing on the CAS side is possible from January 2027.
For a complete project proposal submission, it is necessary to fulfill:
1. Submit the project proposal via the web tool SEA-Europe JFS, by March 31, 2026 (12:00 CET / 17:00 Jakarta/Bangkok),
2. Fill the form „Project Proposal Details“ (edit February 16, 2026) for the purposes of the CAS provider and send it via email to the contact person kresl@kav.cas.cz, by April 2, 2026 (23:59).
