prof. RNDr. Miroslav Engliš, DrSc.

Graduated in 1987 on Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University, Prague, in the area of mathematical analysis; obtained his PhD (CSc.) in 1991 and DrSc in 2001. In 2004 passed successful habilitation on the Mathematics Institute of the Silesian University in Opava, in 2006 became full professor. Since 1991, research scientist of the Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences; since 2005 also pedagogical activity at the Silesian University in Opava, in 2005–2008 and since 2016 the director of the Mathematics Institute of the university, since 2011 vice-rector for science and foreign relations. Held the position of Senior Research Fellow at the Erwin Schrödinger Institut für Mathematische Physik, Vienna (2007) and visiting professor at Universite de Marseille (2009), as well as numerous other shorter visiting positions (up to half a year) covered by the host on various institutions abroad (University of Cambridge, Kansas State University, Lund University, Helsinki University, Universite Aix de Marseille, Concordia University, Göteborg University, etc.). Author or co-author of about 100 publications in the area of functional analysis, complex analysis and geometry, operator theory and their applications in mathematical physics. Awarded the Prize of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic for Young Scientists (1997) and for Scientists (2007), the ISAAC Award of the International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation (Berlin 2001), Wichterle Premium of the CAS (2002); in 2009, elected a full member of the Learned Society of the Czech Republic.
