Selection Procedures
Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position Research and Development Scientist / Research fellow Department of Structure Analysis.
Job description and responsibilities:
The Department of Structure Analysis focuses on the research of structure and dynamics of organic, inorganic, and hybrid materials using advanced diffraction and scattering techniques.
The successful candidate will conduct independent and concept-driven research in the field of novel organic and hybrid organic–inorganic materials and functional structures, in particular:
- core–shell nanoparticles for controlled drug delivery,
- di-block copolymers,
- other macromolecular, colloidal, and interfacial systems,
using the following experimental methods:
- Small-Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS),
- Small-Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS),
- X-ray Powder Diffraction (XRPD).
The position also includes interpretation of experimental data, publication of research results in high-impact journals, and active participation in national and international research projects.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who has:
- a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in chemistry, physical chemistry, macromolecular chemistry, or a related field,
- at least 5 years of postdoctoral research experience,
- demonstrable hands-on experience with SAXS, SANS, and XRPD,
- deep expertise in core–shell nanoparticles, di-block copolymers, macromolecular, colloidal, and interfacial systems,
- an outstanding publication record: at least 50 scientific publications (as author or co-author) and a strong citation impact (h-index > 40),
- excellent knowledge of mathematical methods and software tools for diffraction and scattering data analysis,
- very good command of spoken and written English,
- an active, creative, and independent approach to scientific problem-solving,
- ability to work both independently and effectively within a team.
