Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry of the CAS announces a competition for the position Data Steward.

Institute of Macromolecular Chemistry, Czech Academy of Sciences, located at Prague 6, Heyrovského nám. 1888/2 is hiring for the position:

 Data Steward

We are looking for a colleague to join us in supporting scientific teams with research data management and the implementation of Open Science principles across our institution. If you enjoy working with data, have great communication skills, and want to be part of an environment that fosters high-quality, open research, this opportunity is for you!

Your role (full-time or part-time) will involve:

  • Providing methodological support and guidance to researchers on data management, ensuring data storage and accessibility align with FAIR principles and funder requirements
  • Collaborating with research teams to develop Data Management Plans (DMPs) for grant proposals
  • Developing and implementing institutional guidelines, methodologies, and information materials
  • Organizing and delivering internal training for employees (in both Czech and English)
  • Advancing Open Science services and tools within the institution while ensuring compliance with funding agency requirements
  • Communicating with other departments in Czech and English

What we expect from you:

  • University degree (Chemistry, Natural Sciences, or Information Studies is an advantage)
  • Knowledge of research data management, FAIR principles, and Open Science
  • Advanced computer skills and a proactive approach to learning new tools and technologies
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • English proficiency (at least B2) for daily communication

We would appreciate (but do not require):

  • Experience with data management and data repositories, metadata, and persistent identifiers (PIDs)
  • Hands-on experience with research projects or the academic environment
