The Masaryk Institute and Archive of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position researcher (research focus: intellectual and/or political history of East-Central Europe 1848–1948).

Job description:

  • original research in the given field and publication of its results in the Czech Republic and abroad,
  • designing and implementing grant projects,
  • organization of scholarly meetings,
  • participation in infrastructure projects in the field of digital humanities. 

Qualification requirements:

  • university education in history or related disciplines at the doctoral level (Ph.D. or recognized equivalent),
  • significant international experience,
  • international scholarly and publishing profile with a focus on East-Central European history between 1848 and 1948,
  • active knowledge of English, passive knowledge of at least one other world language,
  • knowledge of other East-Central European languages is an advantage,
  • ability to work independently and as part of a team.

We offer:

  • full-time employment (or reduced hours in the case of caring for a dependent),
  • a 3-year employment contract with the possibility of extension,
  • a position in a stable research institution with adequate remuneration,
  • performance-based bonuses,
  • benefits: 5 weeks of vacation, sick days, meal vouchers, pension insurance contribution, language courses,
  • start date from December 1, 2025, or by agreement.
