JUNIOR RESEARCHER POSITION, fulltime  

The Institute of Ethnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic, invites applications for a Junior Researcher position.

 

RESEARCH PROJECT

The larger project is funded by the Czech Operační Program Jan Amos Komenský (OP JAK) and this particular Working Group is led by Dr. Stephanie Rudwick. Within this Working Group, the selected candidate will conduct ethnographic research in various locations of Czechia, and possibly also other regions of Central Eastern Europe (CEE).

 

POSITION

This is a full-time position starting on November 1, 2026, for a fixed term with the possibility of extension until December 31, 2028.

We expect the successful candidate to contribute to the research activities and publications of the team but also to come with their own research agenda on the topic of Language, Race and Lived Experience of Migration. The successful applicant is expected to relocate to Prague.

 

ELIGIBILITY  

  • Ph.D. in ethnology/social and cultural anthropology, migration studies or related disciplines
  • Excellent skills in qualitative methods and ethnography
  • Proficiency in academic English, other language skills desirable
  • Personal background of migration desirable
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an international team.
  • Writing skills manifested preferable in high-rated peer-reviewed publications
  • Ability to present at international conferences and to contribute to communications aimed at the general public (blogposts, website, social media)
  • Ability to provide a monograph at the end of the contract is an advantage
  • A research focus on religious and cultural diversity, especially involving migration from the Middle East, South Asia or East Asia
  • Willingness to take on a 3-months mobility to Portugal
