Selection Procedures
Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship: Research Group of Catalysis and Reaction Engineering.
The Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals invites candidates to apply for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship.
Host Researcher: Magdalena Caklová
Head of Research Group: Karel Soukup
Research keywords: Photoelectrochemistry; Micropollutant degradation; Advanced oxidation processes; Functional nanomaterials
The research group focuses on catalysis engineering, which encompasses the development of advanced catalytic materials, the design and optimization of catalytic reactors, the study of reaction kinetics, and the detailed microstructural and physicochemical characterization of catalysts. The primary objective is to develop innovative catalysts and catalytic supports that enable sustainable, efficient production of chemicals for industrial applications. In addition, the group has developed methodologies for the removal of micropollutants from water environments. These methods utilize photocatalytic degradation, advancing water purification technologies.
Possible postdoctoral project focus:
This project will focus on the development, characterization, and optimization of novel photoinduced materials. Their efficiency will be systematically evaluated in terms of the photocatalytic degradation of selected micropollutants and their photoelectrochemical response. The research aims to elucidate the structure–property relationships governing photoinduced activity in these materials, thereby enabling the design of more effective and sustainable systems for environmental remediation.
The Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals of the CAS is a public research institution that specializes in chemical and environmental engineering, and materials chemistry. In addition to systematic fundamental research, the institute also engages in applied research and strives to support the next generation of scientists through training programs for Ph.D. students. Thanks to its interdisciplinary approach, the institute promotes technological innovations, addresses environmental and societal challenges, and encourages collaboration between academia, industry and, society.
