MIT-Czech Republic Seed Fund – Call and Info Session

Following the cooperation between the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) within the framework of the MIT-Czech Republic Seed Fund, a call for joint project proposals under this program is open from September 13 to December 13, 2022. The call is open to all scientific disciplines.

To provide more information, an online information session on the MIT-Czech Republic Seed Fund (invitation here) is planned for September 28, 2022, at 16:00 CET (10:00 EDT). The session will be hosted by MIT International Science and Technology Initiatives (MISTI) and is intended for those interested in cooperation from MIT, CAS research institutes and all universities in the Czech Republic.

The program was established in collaboration between MIT, the CAS, the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the CAS, and its subsidiary, IOCB TECH. Now it is funded by the IOCB TECH Endowment Fund, which will contribute 200.000 USD over the next two years. The funds will be distributed among three to five new collaborations and can cover travel and accommodation costs associated with working meetings and research internships. Successful applicants will be chosen by April 2023, and the first trips will be possible in June 2023.

The mission of the CAS

The primary mission of the CAS is to conduct research in a broad spectrum of natural, technical and social sciences as well as humanities. This research aims to advance progress of scientific knowledge at the international level, considering, however, the specific needs of the Czech society and the national culture.

President of the CAS

Prof. Eva Zažímalová has started her second term of office in May 2021. She is a respected scientist, and a Professor of Plant Anatomy and Physiology.

She is also a part of GCSA of the EU.
