Fulbright Scholarship for the Science Communication

Fulbright's Scholarship for the Communication in the Science supports 3-5 month stays of the Czech scientists and journalists in the USA to conduct research and further their education in the field of "Science Communication".

The program is designed for researchers and journalists who are dedicated to informing about science and research and communicating scientific results.

 

Grant content

  1. Scholarship for living costs depending on the category and also the average costs in the given locality according to the price map prepared by the Institute of International Education in New York. The contribution is approximately from $ 2,600 to $ 3,500 monthly.
  2. Contribution to the return ticket
  3. Basic health insurance
  4. Contribution to research and further professional development

 

Requirements

  • Czech citizenship
  • Permanent residence in the Czech Republic
  • Very good knowledge of English
  • Minimally completed bachelor's degree. Relevant experience in scientific communication
  • Invitation from the American side. The invitation letter must include dates of expected stay in the USA. You can find the details of the invitation here
  • Signed consent to the processing of personal data

Priority will be given to candidates who have not worked or lived in the United States for a long time.

 

Mandatory parts of the application:

  • Own research project
  • Curriculum vitae and list of publications
  • Invitation from the American institution
  • Overview of used literature for the project
  • Three letters of recommendation, as part of the electronic application
  • Copy of passport (double page with a photo of the applicant)
  • Letter of support from home institution (required if none of the letters of recommendation are from a representative from the applicant's workplace)

 

The deadline for applications is February 1, 2022 for stays in the following academic year (the start of the stay is possible from August 2022 to May 2023).

The primary mission of the CAS is to conduct research in a broad spectrum of natural, technical and social sciences as well as humanities. This research aims to advance progress of scientific knowledge at the international level, considering, however, the specific needs of the Czech society and the national culture.

Prof. Eva Zažímalová has started her second term of office in May 2021. She is a respected scientist, and a Professor of Plant Anatomy and Physiology.

She is also a part of GCSA of the EU.
