FWO Odysseus Programme: Call Now Open

A new call has been launched under the Odysseus Programme, aimed at attracting outstanding researchers currently working abroad to establish their own research teams at Flemish universities in Belgium. The programme offers 5-year funding and is open to both established researchers (Type I) and promising postdoctoral researchers (Type II).

Applicants must be primarily affiliated with a foreign institution at the time of submission and must be nominated by a Flemish host institution, which commits to employing them upon selection.

The application deadline is 30 September 2026 (5:00 PM CEST).

The Czech Academy of Sciences (the CAS)

The mission of the CAS

The primary mission of the CAS is to conduct research in a broad spectrum of natural, technical and social sciences as well as humanities. This research aims to advance progress of scientific knowledge at the international level, considering, however, the specific needs of the Czech society and the national culture.

President of the CAS

Prof. Radomír Pánek started his first term of office in March 2025. He is a prominent Czech scientist specializing in plasma physics and nuclear fusion.
