
Best research article in Science: discovery with the participation of Czech scientists

The international team, which also includes Czech researchers from České Budějovice and Třeboň, received the Newcomb Cleveland Prize from the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) for the best research article or report published in the scientific journal Science in 2021.
This year, AAAS is presenting the prize to the paper entitled “Hunting the eagle killer: A cyanobacterial neurotoxin causes vacuolar myelinopathy,” first published March 26th, 2021.
The awarded research highlights the emerging issues posed by toxic cyanobacteria in habitats beyond lakes and reservoirs, in particular their deadly impacts on bald eagles and other birds in the southeastern United States.
