
South Korea: opportunity to participate in a year-long project of the Czech Embassy in Seoul - introduction of CCE (Czech Centres of Excellence)

The Czech Embassy in Seoul offers the opportunity to join the CCE (Czech Centre of Excellence) in the Korean project of NEW DEAL, which includes the development of BIG3: chips, bio-health, future cars + carbon neutrality. The opportunity to gain unique knowledge and contacts in these fields.

1) Hydrogen mobility and carbon neutrality
- 1st half of 2022
- cooperation with ÚJV Řež and HYTEP
- Implementation of the project following the meeting of the Joint Comission of the Ministry of Trade and Industry / MOTIE KR Commission for Economic Cooperation in Seoul.
- Visit to the special economic zone "Ulsan Free Economic Zone (UFEZ)" which should serve as a Northeast Asian Energy Hub for hydrogen processing. This zone (near Ulsan city) includes three special centres focused on H2 technology (Hydrogen Industry Base, Electrogen Auto Valley, R&D Business Valley).
2) Advanced nano and micro-technologies, technical cybernetics, instrumentation and system integration collaborations in electromobility, autonomous vehicles and highly automated manufacturing technologies (Industry 4.0) + development of new laser technologies, research in solid mechanics (with a predominant focus on building structures)
- 1st - 2nd half of 2022
- cooperation with the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer (ELI Beamlines) and the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the CAS in Telč (ITAM)
3) Molecular and cell biology, phenogenomics, structural biology, tissue engineering and biomedicine + translational research
- 2nd half of 2022
- cooperation with BIOCEV (a joint project of six institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences) and the International Clinical Research Centre of St. Anne's Hospital in Brno (FNUSA-ICRC)
4) Issues of ecological sciences, global changes (atmosphere, ecosystem, socio-economic system)
- 2nd half of 2022
- cooperation with CzechGlobe and the Institute of Global Change Research of the CAS (microplastics in water, large-scale experimental photobioreactor)

The mission of the CAS
The primary mission of the CAS is to conduct research in a broad spectrum of natural, technical and social sciences as well as humanities. This research aims to advance progress of scientific knowledge at the international level, considering, however, the specific needs of the Czech society and the national culture.
President of the CAS
Prof. Radomír Pánek started his first term of office in March 2025. He is a prominent Czech scientist specializing in plasma physics and nuclear fusion.
