
The Otto Wichterle Award 2021

This year, twenty-four outstanding young scientific talents will receive the prestigious award of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic: the Otto Wichterle Prize for 2021. The ceremony will take place at the Lanna Villa in Prague on Tuesday, 29th June 2021, and the prizes will be presented to the laureates by the Chairwoman of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Eva Zažímalová.
The award is intended for promising male and female scientists who achieve top results in their fields, are holders of scientific degrees (CSc., Dr., Ph.D., DrSc.) and haven’t exceeded the age of 35 at the time of the proposal’s submission. This age limitation does not include a parental leave.
The award for young scientists bears the name of Professor Otto Wichterle, in memory of the outstanding Czech chemist of world renown who became President of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences after November 1989.
It has been awarded since 2002 and is associated with a financial reward of almost CZK 450,000 spread over three years.
