Japan: STS forum Young Leaders Program 2021

 The “Young Leaders Program” is a dialogue between Young Leaders and Nobel Laureates (online), where young leaders will have fruitful and productive discussions with Nobel Laureates in a friendly atmosphere. The program aims to invite outstanding young, promising leaders to attend the 18th STS forum Annual Meeting. They can attend all the sessions of the Annual Meeting as regular participants. Representing the younger generations who bear the future of humankind, they will be expected to contribute their perspectives to the interactive dialogues of the forum. They will be able to build networks with the world’s top leaders and their peers and, in time, be part of the emerging movement to resolve the new types of problems stemming from the application of science and technology.

 The participant at the “Young Leaders Program” must:

  1. be able to debate and discuss in English
  2. have a strong leadership to play central roles in research or business fields
  3. be 40 years or younger on the day of October 1, of the year (41 years or younger in 2021, since the program was cancelled in 2020)
  4. have a PhD, MD or equivalent degree (for participants from academia or research institute)
  5. have not participated in the past STS forum Future/Young Leaders Program
  6. be available to attend the entire program of the 18th Annual Meeting from Saturday, October 2 through to Tuesday, October 5, 2021, and the special event “Young Leaders Program” on Thursday, September 30, 2021 (time will be determined later).

 

 Other Information

  1. Participation fee (10,000 JPY per person) should be covered by the organizations which have recommended them
  2. Participants are required to submit a report to the STS forum about their impressions and what they’ve learnt through participating in the 18th STS forum Annual Meeting
  3. Two representatives from the “Young Leaders Program” will be asked to review about the 18th STS forum Annual Meeting at the Closing Session to be held on October 5/6 2021

 

Deadline: please complete and send the Young Leaders Program entry form (attached Excel file) to the secretariat (young-leaders@stsforum.org) by 30th June 2021.

The mission of the CAS

The primary mission of the CAS is to conduct research in a broad spectrum of natural, technical and social sciences as well as humanities. This research aims to advance progress of scientific knowledge at the international level, considering, however, the specific needs of the Czech society and the national culture.

President of the CAS

Prof. Eva Zažímalová has started her second term of office in May 2021. She is a respected scientist, and a Professor of Plant Anatomy and Physiology.

She is also a part of GCSA of the EU.
