Invitation to the second part of the conference to the 30th anniversary of CEFRES - November 25 - 26

Following the first part of the conference held in May on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the French Research Center in Humanities and Social Sciences (CEFRES), we would like to invite you to the second part of the program, which is planned for November 25-26, 2021 in person in Carolinum, and online on CEFRES Facebook page.

The conference serves not only to commemorate the establishment of CEFRES in 1991, when it accompanied the remarkable restoration of the French-Czech cooperation and scientific research in humanities and social sciences in Central Europe, but also to emphasize the successful cooperation of the Czech Academy of Sciences, CEFRES and Charles University within the CEFRES Platform, which was established in 2014 and its goal is to support excellent projects of the French-Czech teams engaged in the TANDEM programme in obtaining a European ERC grant.

The program of the first day will take place in English and will start on Thursday 25 November at 4.30pm with a welcome speeches by the Ambassador of France in the Czech Republi, Alexis Dutertre, the Vice-Rector of Charles University prof. Lenka Rovná, the Vice-President of the Czech Academy of Sciences for Humanities and Social Sciences Dr. Ondřej Beránek, and the director of CEFRES Dr. Jérôme Heurtaux. This will be followed by a debate on "Is academic freedom the freedom of all?", which you can attend through the ZOOM webinar or watch online on CEFRES Facebook page.

On Friday, 26 November, the conference will bring together 19 representatives of academic and diplomatic world to discuss how scholars and institutions face the powers (9:30-11:15, English), as well as how the new public management challenges scientific freedom (11:30-12:30, English), a following discussion will focus on how to defend and protect academic freedom (14:15-16:15, French-English, with translation), and finally, the CEFRES Director will ask all participants and other guests "What to do and how?" (16:30-17:45, French-English, with translation).
