Letní škola astronomie v Brně

Astronomický ústav Akademie věd České republiky spolu s Ústavem teoretické fyziky a astrofyziky Masarykovy univerzity (MU), organizací OPTICON a Mezinárodní astronomickou unií v Univerzitním kampusu Bohunice v Brně pořádá letní školu „ESO/OPTICON/IAU summer school on modern instruments, their science case, and practical data reduction“. Koná se od 1. do 11. 9. v Brně a jde o jedinečnou mezinárodní akci. Hlavním úkolem je vzdělávat mladé české astronomy, většinou studenty Ph.D. oboru astronomie, kteří budou pracovat po boku svých zahraničních kolegů na nejmodernějších projektech astronomie, pod vedením špičkových lektorů Evropské jižní observatoře (ESO), které je ČR členem od roku 2007 a dalších prvotřídních evropských pracovišť.
Obohacením bude účast zahraničních studentů ze 14 zemí celého světa. Zároveň je toto setkání příležitostí pro zástupce českých firem navázat kontakty a ujasnit si podmínky technologicky náročných kontraktů ESO.

The Czech Academy of Sciences (the CAS)
The mission of the CAS
The primary mission of the CAS is to conduct research in a broad spectrum of natural, technical and social sciences as well as humanities. This research aims to advance progress of scientific knowledge at the international level, considering, however, the specific needs of the Czech society and the national culture.
President of the CAS
Prof. Eva Zažímalová has started her second term of office in May 2021. She is a respected scientist, and a Professor of Plant Anatomy and Physiology.
She is also a part of GCSA of the EU.
