PhDr. Natalie Venclová, DrSc.

Studied prehistory at the Department of Prehistory at the Faculty of Philosophy, Charles University, Prague, PhDr 1973, CSc 1985, DrSc 2001. Employed at the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague, Deputy Director in 1990–1993, 1999–2007. Czech and international research projects concerning prehistoric and Iron Age settlement and production, publications in Czech and European periodicals, author and co-author of 9 volumes. Lecturing 1998–2005 at the Department of Archaeology, West-Bohemian University in Pilsen, held lectures at the Institute of Classical Archaeology, lectures at European and Australian universities. Supervising Mgr. and PhD. dissertations. Editor of conference etc. volumes, co-editor of the Prehistory of Bohemia series (7 volumes, 2013). Founded the on-line VITREA database in 2013 of chemical analyses of archaeological glass in the Czech Republic. Member of ERC expert panel for grants – humanities, 2014–2015. Received Prix Evelyne Encelot (France) for European Woman in Archaeology in 2002.
