Selection Procedures

Institute of State and Law of the CAS announces an open competition in accordance with the Act No. 283/1992 Coll. on the Czech Academy of Sciences, and the Statutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences for a position Postdoctoral researcher to the Centre for Climate Law and Sustainability Studies (CLASS).

Postdoctoral researcher to the Centre for Climate Law and Sustainability Studies (CLASS), as a maternity leave substitute, for a part-time job 0.9, from January 2022.

Assumed main areas of issues addressed by the position:

  • international climate law,
  • EU climate law,
  • climate litigation,
  • law aspects of just transition.

Possible further areas of research: Czech climate legislation, human rights and climate change, climate and gender.

We require:

  • a university degree in law from a master's and doctoral programme (Ph.D. or equivalent
  • a strong interest in legal aspects of addressing the impacts of climate change 
  • active knowledge of English (knowledge of another world language an advantage)
  • a long-standing interest in theoretical reflection on the problems of law-making and application in a national and international perspective and in scientific work, including an interest in participating in domestic and international research projects and in producing publications
  • interest in interdisciplinary approaches to the study of law, interdisciplinary cooperation and the popularisation of scientific knowledge to the public

  • the opportunity to participate in the formation of climate law as a new subfield of law, thus contributing to the implementation and definition of the research objectives of the Institute of Legal Studies of the CAS, and thus contributing to the overall development of legal research in the Czech Republic
