She completed her studies in 1970–1975 in the field of Organic Technology at the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague. She devoted herself to postgraduate studies at the Department of Inorganic Technology in 1983–1985. She completed her scientific postgraduate studies at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the CAS in Prague, where she defended her candidate’s dissertation work in 1993. In her research, she concentrates on inorganic chemistry and material chemistry.

She has worked at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the CAS since 1975. She began to deal with scientific management in 1998–2004 from the post of deputy director of the IIC and in 2004–2017 as the director of this institute. She was a member/vice-president of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the CAS (1995–2004) and in 2007–2011 she served as the chairman of the Council of the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the CAS, which she is still a member of today. Since 2017, she has been a member of the Academy Council of the CAS, entrusted chiefly with coordination and administrative treatment of the programmes of the support of excellence within the CAS.

She was and is a member of a number of professional and advisory bodies, such as a member of the Scientific Council of the Faculty of the Environment of the University of JE Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem, the Scientific Council of the Faculty of Chemical Technology of the University of Pardubice, the field councils of the doctoral study program of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the Faculty of Chemical Technology of ICT in Prague and FCT of the University of Pardubice, member of the Examination Commission for State Doctoral Examinations for the Field of Inorganic Technology FCHT VŠCHT Prague, member of the All-Academic Coordinating Commission for Classification of Employees in the Highest Qualification Level (2002–2013), member of the panel P207 of the Czech Science Foundation (2009–2011), member of the subdisciplinary commission of the CSF for chemistry, chairman of the field commission of the CSF for natural sciences, secretary and chairman of the field council for chemistry of the CSF. Her publication activity includes according to thee WOS 42 results (more than 300 citations excluding autocitations); h-index 11.
