doc. RNDr. Stanislav Kozubek, DrSc.
Institute of Biophysics of the CAS
In 1972, he graduated in the field of nuclear physics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University in Prague. After defending his viva voce from the field of radiobiology at the same faculty of CU (1978), he worked as a physicist in the radiotherapeutic ward of the hospital in Ostrava and in 1981–1989 became a long-term research employee at the Joint Institute of Nuclear Research in Dubna (Russia). In 1982, he defended his candidate dissertation work in the field of biophysics at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences Brno. He completed long-term study stays abroad – as a researcher at Deutsche Foschunganstalt für Luft- und Raumfahrt (Cologne, Germany, 1990–1991) and as a guest researcher at Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (Berkeley, USA, 1991-1992). He first devoted himself to the effect of radiation on biomolecules, cells and tissue, later to the arrangement and function of the genome and cell nucleus and epigenetics. In 1986, he acquired the scientific degree of DrSc in the field of radiobiology (Kiev, Ukraine).
At the Institute of Biophysics of the CAS (IBP) in Brno he has worked as a senior scientific employee since 1989. Since 1997, he has been a member of the Council of Sciences of the IBP and subsequently became a member of the Council of this institution. In 1995–2015, he led the Department of Cytology and Cytometry of the IBP and in 2005–2017 held the post of the Director of the Institute, during which he acquires extensive experience with the governance of a workplace of the CAS and the evaluation of research.
